We had a small party in the East Village, at the huge, beautiful apartment of a 90-year-old friend. Sitting on Eames furniture, we ate wonderful Thai delivery and kept checking Twitter and Facebook for friends' witty comments, which we'd occasionally read aloud. It was a dorky, very fun night.

Incredibly, my husband agreed to watch it with me. I made beef stroganoff, he mixed Cuban rum with Mexican Coca-Cola, and we laughed a lot at the hosts. I would have happily watched more of their schtick, and though it's usually an embarassment, the dance number was, I thought, fabulous.

All Women Stalker

Watch at home with my husband and make sure we're having something good for dinner :)

This brings back such wonderful and incredible memories. I had a great boyfriend who loved the movies. I was a willing watcher, but he was really into the hows/whys of every single movie we ever went to.
So Oscar night was a red carpet event for us. We'd get dressed up and either go to his place or my place and watch and comment on every single moment. This was all prior to Joan Rivers, so we had plenty to say about everything.
Tim is gone now but he was buried where he has a great view of probably one of the last drive-ins in the country. I watch the Oscars now and think of him, fondly and with with great affection.

About

  • What do you get when you throw a true beauty obsessive in New York together with a veteran beauty journalist in LA? Not much room on the bathroom shelves, that's for sure. Make-up, hair products, skincare, perfume, salons, spas, luxury hotels with toiletries and treatments that make us never want to go home - if we've left anything out, you can pry our mirrors from our cold, dead, perfectly manicured hands.
