While I am not endowed with her other attributes, I do have about the same hair (texture, color, curliness) as Sophia Loren. A few months ago, I was looking at images of her and was taken by a short cut she had, the photo of which I sent to my hair-cutter, saying, I might want this cut when I go to Panama in January, as I will not be taking the blow-dryer (what my daughter calls my "ghetto hairdryer," to which I have essentially been harnessed since age thirteen because it nicely half-pulls out the curls). She assured me, my hair will look that way with that cut, no problem. Two images below: what my hair (if not my... attributes) sort of looks like now, on the left; the proposed cut on the right. Let the voting begin!

I love the longer hair, but then I am a bit biased after spending ages growing my hair!

On the Sophia Loren photo on the right... is that armpit hair I see? Nothing wrong with it... it's just so strange to see that on a photo of a celebrity, anywhere!!

I think armpit hair is a lot more common in Europe. At least, that's been my experience.
As for the hair: I think I'm keeping it long. Just put some goop in it and pull it back and up. I'm afraid that the shortness combined with the humidity will equal big frizz.

Either way you can make it look great!

The cut looks cute, and the bangs are very retro chic. You'll go from sultry look to a more innocent presence. Good luck

The short hair photo is much sexier. If you can get these big curls I think the short is best.
Yes, arm and leg hair is more common in Europe, although in the past 20 or so years most everyone shaves. Well, except for Germany, they have held out. But all my relatives in England and Italy all thought I was joking when I mentioned that they would not shave there armpits.

I'm struck by the shorter hair style and I'd definitively go for coolness and convenience. If your blessed with hair like that, go for it!

Don't cut your hair. Long, 'chaotic' hair are so beautiful and sexy.

Only very few people can pull off short hair... for some, it makes them look older. So I suggest keep it long but have it cut with layers to put some body on it.

Im always torn between long and short hair.I spend ages growing mine only to get fed up and cut it all off, then I regret cutting it and start growing again,(im a little indecisive)
I do prefer it long though, so I say keep it long

Depends what look you want to go for, both are very nice looking. I think you and your readers might be interested in another article I found, about beauty and dry eyes.

Is your blowdryer attachment a "ghetto hairdryer" because it's a product designed for black women, and features a black woman on the box?
I find that line of thinking offensive, and I'm surprised that you'd print your daughter's ignorant comment publicly.

I love the second hair style but I recon it would be hard to keep it that way. I love Sophia Loren's eye liner too!!

I believe "ghetto" has passed beyond a negative racial stereotype and into popular vernacular, where it can mean anything from super-bad (meaning, super-good) to ratty to a synonym for black. And probably a lot of other things, words being elastic and all that. And I think that's a good thing. I don't like the idea of taking any word and locking it in a box for all time.
As for which way my daughter meant it, I can honestly say I don't think she's ever seen the box the hairdryer comes in.

Sophia Lauren really looks fabulous during her early years.

The short hairstyles on the right takes hours of styling. I thing it's better to keep is long because when you cut it it will look like it is now, just shorter. It's not worth it unless you have the time to style, style, style!

I am a Breast Cancer survivor and going through chemo was absolutely rough, but not as bad as loosing my hair. It was so difficult to look in the mirror; I lost my self-esteem, confidence, and will to socialize with the public. I finally couldn't take it anymore and had extensions installed by Hair Goddess of Ny. Her name is Christina; She has changed my life completely. She brought me back to life.. I can personally attest to how awesome she and her work is.. She is a great person; a master at her craft. She has also become a good friend. It's been about a year and half and I just had them removed because my hair has grown out! Her extension system is safe, comfortable, and quick. Not to mention, the hair is reusable for years.
